Haiti Associate Country Director

Associate Country Director - Haiti

£28,185 to £37,086 net per annum plus benefits Port au Prince, Haiti

Oxfam has been delivering humanitarian and emergency assistance in Haiti for nearly 30 years. And in that time, the fallout from the Earthquake in 2010 is the worst we’ve encountered. Although recovery is a long and ongoing process, our passion and expertise means we’re well positioned to make a real difference to the people affected by the disaster. As this transition to a development agenda takes hold , we’re looking for an Associate Director to provide operational direction to our work in Haiti going forward.

The role Supporting the Country Director, you’ll work directly with in-country teams to develop and deliver a range of long-term programmes that’ll help Haiti move forward. Day to day that means taking charge of operational and people management – mobilising managers on the ground in the effective roll out of the programmes and embedding Monitoring, Evaluating and Learning (MEL) principles into every stage of the delivery – making sure each programme is of the highest quality and within budget parameters. But our success will hinge as much on the partnerships we develop as the operational work involved. So as well as leading programme staff in the effective roll out of the programme, you’ll represent Oxfam to a diverse range of stakeholders including government officials, donor agencies and other NGOs, as well as working closely with the Country Leadership team to identify and negotiate new funding sources in support of our work.

What we’re looking for We’re looking for someone with experience in developing and managing large-scale programmes within the NGO sector. You’ll certainly have led and motivated teams before, driving change and inspiring others to make a real difference, while strong communication skills mean you’ll have no problem building and managing donor and partner relationships. Specialist humanitarian and advocacy skills are important, as is the ability to manage the day-to-day challenges that come from a role like this – everything from budget management to staff development. And as well as being analytical, flexible and fluent in English and French, you’ll have the credibility and gravitas to positively represent Oxfam at all levels.

About Oxfam A simple, inescapable truth underlines everything we do at Oxfam. There’s enough wealth in this world to go around. It’s not unfortunate that people live in poverty. It’s unjustifiable. It’s not just their problem. It’s ours too. And with the right support, we can beat poverty and injustice. Thousands of people already commit their time and talents to our campaigning, humanitarian and long-term development projects. Now we’re looking for yours.
