Director of Programs Halton Food for Thought
Halton Food for Thought is the sole provider of Student Nutrition Programs in Halton Region. We are a preventative program committed to improving the learning capacity, health and well-being of children through the provision of healthy food before or during school through school or community-based breakfast, snack or lunch programs. Our services impact students’ physical, emotional and behavourial needs allowing them to concentrate on learning, not their hunger.
Program Management Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and support to a staff team of 5 providing supervision and support in all aspects of new program development and monitoring 140 existing Student Nutrition Programs;
- Oversee all aspects of program evaluation ensuring service targets are met;
- Coordinate and monitor monthly statistical reporting;
- Manage the agency’s direct food program coordinating monthly orders and deliveries, source new local and national food vendors; monitor budget & conduct annual evaluation assessing monetary effectiveness;
- Coordinate and implement aspects of the agency’s strategic plan that relate to program development and service delivery;
- Coordinate and identify training opportunities for program staff and volunteers;
- Coordinate annual volunteer workshop;
- Maintain positive working relationships and collaborative arrangements with community groups, funders, politicians, and other organizations to help achieve the goals of the organization;
- Formulate and recommend policies and procedures to meet the agency’s strategic goals, and ensure regular evaluation of achievements;
- Provide assistance and support agency events which generate funds to support programs and services;
- Provide leadership and participate as a member of various committees and workgroups to enhance community partnerships.
Skills and Competencies
- University or College degree in a related discipline;
- A minimum of three or more years management experience in a not-for-profit organization;
- Experience with client service delivery models and best practice;
- Knowledge and experience with continuous improvement principles and practices;
- Experience in budget development and monitoring;
- Demonstrated leadership in human resources including supervision and team motivation to achieve goals;
- Excellent public relations, written and oral communication & presentation skills;
- A vehicle and current driver’s license for travel within Halton Region
- Must be willing to work evenings and weekends with flexible work schedules.
