POSITION: On Call Secretary (2 positions), LES-6(1); FP-8(2)

OPENING DATE: September 13, 2011

CLOSING DATE: September 27, 2011

WORK HOURS: When Actually Employed.

SALARY: (1) Mission Policy is to hire LES employees at step 1 of the grade. Employee will get paid on an hourly rate basis.

(2) Actual FP grade and salary will be determined by the US Department of State.

Notes: All ordinarily resident applicants must have the required work and/or residency permits to be eligible for consideration.

Best qualified displaced/RIFed employees will receive priority consideration if no US Citizens, family members or veterans apply.

The US Embassy in Cairo is seeking an individual for the position of On Call Secretary in the Human Resources Office.

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION

The incumbent will provide administrative and secretarial support to the requisite offices.

NOTE:
The incumbent will get paid for the hours worked only. He/she will not be entitled to within grade increases, bonus payments, severance payments, nor will he/she be enrolled under the Egyptian Social Insurance Program. Length of service in an On-Call position is not creditable. Incumbent will be covered by life insurance; Medical insurance will cover the employee during periods of employment only.

Applicants should clearly understand that they are obliged to accept assignments given to them at any given time.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

NOTE: All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item.

1. A high school degree is required.

2. Two years of clerical experience is required.

3. Level IV (fluent) in English and Arabic required.

4. English typing at level II (40 wpm) and Arabic typing at level I (15 wpm) is required.

SELECTION PROCESS

When equally qualified, US Citizen Eligible Family Members (EFMs) and U.S. veterans will be given preference. Therefore, it is essential that the candidate address the required qualifications above in the application.

ADDITIONAL SELECTION CRITERIA

1. Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and residency status in determining successful candidacy.

2. Current employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply for advertised positions.

3. Currently employed US Citizen EFMs who hold an FMA appointment are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment.

4. Currently employed NORs hired under a Personal Services Agreement (PSA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment, unless currently hired into a position with a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.
