Project Coordinator – Seed Delivery

The Project Coordinator - Seed Delivery will be primarily responsible for delivery of project targets, to include coordination with government, monitoring of program activities and supervision of staff directly concerned with activities under this program.
Major Accountabilities / Responsibilities
• Prepare an action plan with specific operational steps by identifying the targeted areas within the FtF zone in the South to scale up activities in the given time frame for accomplishing each specific step and meet overall targets.
• Work closely and negotiate with BRRI and BINA to ensure that the breeder seed required to produce targeted amounts of seed (foundation, certified, truthfully labeled seed-TLS) of different rice varieties for each of the next four seasons are produced and supplied to the SEEDNET members, BADC, and other seed producing organizations located in different parts of the country.
• Work closely and negotiate with SEEDNET members, BADC, other seed producing organizations, local NGO partners and with DAE to ensure that the foundation and certified seed requirements for the area targeted for each of the four seasons are produced and delivered timely to seed dealers, NGOs, and DAE offices in the targeted districts in the south.
• Work closely with at all levels of DAE officials in Dhaka and southern districts to ensure that the district, upailla, union, and block level DAE officials provide training and conduct demonstrations on quality seed production and best crop management practices to the farmers receiving quality seed from the project. They will also ensure that the farmers receive seed from the seed dealers or in some cases from DAE offices, make proper use of those seeds, monitor farmers’ fields planted with improved quality seeds and provide instant feedback to the CSISA project officials.
• Supervise M&E specialist, communication specialist, and senior seed/extension specialist of the project to ensure that the project activities are being conducted as planned, targets are being achieved, and project results are being communicated widely through various communication and dissemination means.
• Work closely with all relevant partners of the Government of Bangladesh (GOB) ensuring their cooperation for delivery as per program plans.
• Working with COP, CSISA-IRRI coordinator, and M&E specialist to ensure that reporting requirements of USAID are met. And with CSISA-IRRI Finance and Accounts staff to ensure expenditure targets are being met and that financial reporting occurs as required
Qualification requirements
• PhD or MSc degree in agriculture, preferably in seed systems
• At least At least 20 years of experience in similar positions in agriculture, and experience with seed systems within the Government, Private and the NGO sectors
• Experience as a program manager with responsibilities for reporting and financial management
• Strong English writing and editing skills in English are a requirement
