LECTURER IN SOIL FERTILITY/SOIL ORGANIC MATTER MANAGEMENT

QUALIFICATION:
PhD in Soil Science/Soil Management.

EXPERIENCE and COMPETENCIES:
Some years teaching and research experience in soil science and soil management with special reference to soil fertility and soil organic matter in a university environment and evidence of publications in recognized, refereed scientific journals are required.

Preference will be given to applicants with experience in use of organic wastes to manage or conserve tropical soils. Demonstration of the capacity to develop relevant research including participatory approaches, to teach competently, to develop new courses/programmes, and to interact with stakeholders will be assets.

SPECIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Teach at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the areas of Soil Fertility, Soil Organic Matter Management, Soil and Water Management and Conservation, Land Husbandry, Organic Agriculture, using both direct and distance delivery modes
• Supervise graduate students in his/her area of competence
• Conduct relevant research and participate in cross-disciplinary research
• Participate in outreach activities in the agricultural sector
• Perform related duties assigned by the Head of Department
