The incumbent shall perform genetic studies in the field and laboratory on flowering trait and adaptability of rice using conventional breeding techniques and molecular markers and conduct research studies in both field and laboratory conditions. Manage and maintain storage of breeding seed materials.

Major accountabilities/Responsibilities
• Evaluation of near isogenic lines (NILs) with introgression of flowering traits into the elite Indica-type genetic background
• Management breeding materials for early-morning flowering
• Marker-aided selection for flowering traits
• Collection, analysis and interpretation of data
• Assistance in preparation of scientific reports
• Supervises Research Technicians and contract workers and provide assistance to VRFs and other researchers
• Performs other tasks indicated by IRS

Qualification requirements
• B.Sc. degree in Genetics or Plant Breeding
• 1 year relevant work experience
• Good knowledge of genetics and plant breeding; techniques on molecular biology; statistical analysis and data interpretation; computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
