Grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, UN Women is working work for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security. Placing women's rights at the centre of all its efforts, UN Women is leading the coordination of the United Nations System efforts to ensure that commitments on gender equality and gender mainstreaming translate into action throughout the world. UN Women's Asia and the Pacific portfolio covers a diverse range of countries, varying in degrees of socio-economic, political and environmental challenges and opportunities. It is essential to develop corporate level understanding of UN Women's presence, scope of programming and partnerships in the Asia and the Pacific region. To support UN Women's global advocacy efforts and partnership development, it is necessary to have a harmonized, country-level and programme-level analysis prepared and readily available. This analysis will support the development of baselines as part of the roll out of the global Strategic Plan in the Asia and the Pacific Region.
