West Africa Director Acumen Fund
Acumen Fund is a non-profit global venture fund that uses entrepreneurial approaches to solve the problems of global poverty.
Acumen Fund uses philanthropic capital to make disciplined investments – loans or equity, not grants – that yield both financial and social returns. Any financial returns the Fund receives are recycled into new investments.
With offices currently in the US, Kenya, India and Pakistan, Acumen Fund supports entrepreneurs focused on offering critical services – water, health, housing, and energy – at affordable prices to people earning less than four dollars a day.
The West Africa Director will launch Acumen Fund’s social impact portfolio in West Africa. S/he will oversee the development of investment portfolios as well as being responsible for leading a team and managing a large community of supporters, advisers and funders that transcend national boundaries, with the aim of bringing about real change in West Africa.
The successful candidate will have over 10 years experience in investment, finance, business development, strategy or operations. S/he will have excellent financial, analytical and managerial skills, as well as experience in building, managing and motivating teams. This role will not appeal to the mercenary, the cynical or the faint-hearted.
