In March 2000, Alken-Maes became a part of the British Scottish & Newcastle group, the third largest brewery group in Europe. In April 2008, Scottish and Newcastle was acquired jointly by Heineken and Carlsberg. So now Alken-Maes is part of the Heineken Group, one of the world’s greatest brewers.

Today, the Alken-Maes group is the 2^nd largest Belgian brewery group, owns 2 production facilities (Alken and Kobbegem) and commercialises the following beers: Maes, Cristal, Grimbergen, Mort Subite, Affligem, Op-Ale, Postel, Desperados, Heineken, Foster’s, Brugs, Ciney, Hapkin, Maes Nature, Judas, Golding Campina and Maes Zero en Cristal 1928. The group employs approx 500 workers.
