Child Survival Officer, APHIAplus project

PATH seeks to recruit a Child Survival Officer will work closely with the Child Survival / Malaria Advisor to provide technical guidance to the strategic planning and implementation child health programs as well as strengthen partner and staff capacity to implement these programs. This position will be based in either Nyanza or Western province.

Specifically, the responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following;

  • Support to strengthen the capacity of program staff on child health programs and build their skills in interpreting research results and using a research-to-action approach to guide programmatic decisions and activities.
  • Expand and consolidate existing partnerships with the Ministry of Health and other stakeholders; partners, civil society groups and private sector.
  • Document and disseminate child health and other research findings through publications and other methods.
  • Remain abreast of technical developments in the field of international public health, specifically child health.
  • Work with teams to provide technical support to the Ministry of Public Health as appropriate to influence child health policies.
  • Work with civil society, public and private sectors groups to ensure best practices are carried over and documented.
Required Skills
  • Knowledge of international development issues, specifically as relate to child health and familiarity with the donor community
  • Ability to capacity build, manage and developprogram staff on child health issues.
  • Ability to work closely with program staff to deliver actionable and insightful research outputs;
  • Ability to work efficiently and quickly under pressure;
  • Proven ability to produce results and meet objectives under difficult circumstances.
  • Exhibit creative, innovative, and strategic thinking ability; excellent oral and written communication, analytical, organizational interpersonal and cross-cultural skills;
  • Fluency in English required;
Required Experience
  • University degree in social studies, community development, sociology or equivalent.
  • Minimum of five years experience in gender programming
  • Experience in child health programs /issues.
