Climate Change Programme Development & Funding Adviser

This is a unique opportunity to help shape VSO’s long term approach to climate change.

Our recent experience shows that the impact of climate change, major disasters and a gradual deepening of environmental stresses is placing additional pressure on the lives of poor people. These are the very communities who are least responsible for the cause of the problem, yet with the fewest resources to respond. As this new challenge unfolds, our programmes are assessing the impact of climate change for poor and marginalised people in the countries and regions where we work and
are developing new country plans in line with People First – VSO’s strategy that puts people at the centre of their own development.

You will support country programmes and funding teams to develop a climate change funding strategy and to develop funding proposals which will bring in new funds to support this important area of VSO’s work.

Working with VSO’s funding team you will map out opportunities for Climate Change funding and ensure VSO builds relationships with potential funders of this work.

You will have a thorough understanding of the key concepts and issues in climate change and how they relate to broader development themes, plus experience of fundraising from institutional and other donors.

To apply complete the standard VSO application form and return it with the Equal Opportunites Monitoring Form to recruitment@vso.org.uk. Please note CVs will not be accepted.
