Dean Wilfrid Laurier University

School of Business & Economics

Wilfrid Laurier University is poised to meet its future with vision, energy, and optimism. Excellence in education and research supports an academic community addressing critical business, economic, social, and environmental challenges. With 17,000 students and 1,800 faculty and staff across locations in Waterloo, Brantford, Kitchener, and Toronto, Laurier is a mid-sized university with small-school strengths: experiential programming, engaged alumni, high levels of student satisfaction, and a unique culture inspiring lives of leadership and purpose.

The School of Business & Economics is building on the momentum of the announcement of a new $103-million Global Innovation Exchange Building. With more than 4,500 students in full- and part-time undergraduate, Master's, and PhD programs, Laurier has one of the largest, most respected business schools in the country. Accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business for both the honours undergraduate and Master's programs, the School is known for programming that is enterprising, innovative, and dynamic. The School has unmatched access to both Canada's financial leadership and its leading centre for technology, research, business innovation, and collaboration: the Waterloo campus is at the apex of Canada's Technology Triangle; the Toronto campus is in the heart of the financial district.

The School is seeking its next Dean.
With a graduate degree (PhD preferred) in a pertinent discipline, you are a respected leader both in the academy and in business boardrooms. You have a reputation for understanding and dealing with complex issues, and a strong record of scholarship, research, teaching, and business acumen. Appreciative of nuance, you make decisions that balance the complementary natures of academe and business within the context of strategic goals, budgets, and external relations. Your understanding of collegiality will enable you to work successfully with faculty and the University's senior leadership to build academic and research strength and the reputational excellence of the School of Business & Economics.

You are a skilled communicator, a listener, and an advocate, who will build and maintain strong and productive relationships within the School and the University, and with the broader business community. In these, you will be supported by a vigorous fund-raising campaign, as well as a senior administrative group, faculty, Board, and Senate deeply committed to the School's achieving its full potential.

Wilfrid Laurier University is committed to equity and values diversity. We welcome applications from qualified individuals of all genders and sexual orientations, persons with disabilities, Aboriginal persons and persons of a visible minority.
