Manufacturing Engineering - Intern & Co-op 2012-MAN0008728 Paint & Polymers Coatings material Polymer molding/painting Facilities or machinery/equipment Robotics - automation & controls Paint processing Sealing operations Finished quality (statistics, benchmarking, instrumentation) Body Center & Pre-production Build Body-in-white - process design, tool construction follow-up, tool and process validation Die & Press - formability analysis, bead forces for stamping operations, correlating induction heat treat parameters Tooling Center - Fill in as 1st line supervisor in Tool & Die operations Die Shop - process, design, construction and tryout of program dies Body Shop - process, design, construction, integration and installation of assembly systems Environmental Engineering Waste reduction/recycling Waste water discharge Air discharge Hazardous waste from manufacturing processes Manufacturing Automation & Assembly Controls execution: Emulation development, Battery manufacturing development, Controls communication development and testing Conveyor Mechanical: Develop bid packages, Bid and contract supplier to construct/modify conveyor systems in GM plants General Assembly: Assist in design, build, validation and plant support of assembly tooling & equipment Structural or Mechanical Systems Facility Engineering: Assist in developing criteria for direct mechanical systems for new building construction, assist in developing criteria for facility renovation projects at manufacturing sites Qualifications Seeking students currently working on undergrad or graduate degrees in the following majors: Manufacturing Engineering Mechanical Engineering Electrical Engineering Industrial Engineering/Industrial Arts Computer Engineering Chemical Engineering Environmental Engineering Industrial Hygiene Structural Engineering Civil Engineering Materials Engineering Preferred cumulative GPA of 3.0 Job locations can be at Manufacturing Engineering headquarters in Warren, Michigan or in various plant locations throughout the U.S. Some travel may be required Right to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship. Strong written and oral communication skills. High level of analytical ability to solve complex issues. Knowledge of engineering related computer software related to types of assignments listed.
