PRINCIPAL ENGINEER: LOCALISATION ENGINEERING (LE)

Reporting to the Manager: Localisation Engineering, the successful applicant will be responsible for the localisation and development of responsible parts within LE.


Key performance areas: Safety, health, environment and compliance: • Promote safety and 5S culture within the Department • Maintain ISO 9001 compliant systems. Project delivery: Drive problem resolution through the coordination of activities and resources to ensure early resolution of identified problems. Cost: • Ensure the development of cost-efficient parts to meet the CIM/CIL-based vehicle development cost targets • Reduce warranty and field problem costs through high cost problem resolution. Business reformation: Follow best practices to departmental workings as needed to improve
efficiency and quality of output. Quality: Promote a quality mindset within LE through the development of quality parts on time to meet PPM/DPU-based vehicle development quality targets.


Requirements:• Relevant NQF 6 qualification (minimum 360 credits on the 8 level framework) in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical) • Minimum of 5 years’ post-traineeship experience in the automotive engineering field with experience
in: * Component/vehicle development and localisation * Component design * Component/vehicle manufacturing processes * Component quality assessment * Component costing analysis * Component/vehicle evaluation processes * Component value adding/value engineering activities.
