AGA Owners Project HR/IR/ER Manager

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
To ensure the delivery of all project HR requirements for stage-gating through investment stages, including commissioning for the duration of a project.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Set-up and maintain systems for HR management and HR administration functions where required, allowing effective reporting and project HR management plan execution.
  • Provide accurate and current HR data to facilitate key HR and project decision-making
  • Manage HR/IR dispute resolution processes with project contractors and consultants where required.
  • Work at AngloGold Ashati (AGA) Continental Africa Region sites in Africa for periods of time.
  • Work on multiple projects concurrently.
  • Develop the Human Resources Plan for a project/s, including project organisation structure, labour plans, recruitment strategy, localisation plan, induction, training and development plans, recognition and rewards system, costing, ER/IR plan.
  • Oversee and coordinate expatriate mobilisation and provide best practice advice per project
  • Monitor, evaluate and nurture key relationships to maintain good industrial relations with partners such as unions, local interest groups and all other project stakeholders
  • Ensure all HR stage deliverables and cost estimates for the project are developed and risks mitigated prior to project phase approval meetings.
  • Implement HR initiatives through liaison with key project and operational stakeholders
  • Facilitate development of role descriptions.
  • Preparation of transition strategies to take the project through all phases, including concept, pre-feasibility, feasibility, construction, commissioning, and operational readiness.
  • HR/IR interface with Engineering Procurement Construction Management contractors and/or Owner Miner Teams
  • Contribute to the development of performance management policies and ensure organisational compliance to the performance management policy and cycle.
QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:
  • Tertiary education in Human Resources or equivalent.
  • At least 10 years' experience in generalist HR within a mining / construction environment of which at least 5 years should have been in mining
  • At least 2-3 years' experience as a HR Manager on a large mining / construction project/s essential, experience with projects in Africa is highly desirable
  • Exposure and experience working in Africa and/or remote locations highly desirable.
  • Experience working on feasibility studies, preferably through to implementation
  • Experience with the development of localisation plans is desirable
  • Development of and facilitation of performance management interventions
  • Organisational development experience on mining projects is desirable
  • French speaking is an advantage
