Our client, Medical Stores Limited (MSL) is the largest pharmaceutical and medical distributor in Zambia. It contributes to health care provision in Zambia. Since 2004, Crown Agents has been the management contractor responsible for the development and management of MSL. Currently Crown Agents provides consultants to fill the senior management positions and as part of the Management Contract responsibilities. Crown Agents will be handing over the management positions to Zambian Nationals. Currently operating in Zambia, they are seeking to employ the services of qualified and experienced individuals to take up the Managing Director posistion (Ref 986).
As Managing Director you will be responsible for providing direction and managing the business of Medical Stores Ltd. Your duties will include:

• Acting as the main point of contact for MSL with the shareholders and stakeholders, such as the Ministry of Health, its partners and Ministry of Finance.
• Taking a lead role in the business planning and business implementation and management strategy.
• Promoting MSL in a commercial and professional light to all existing and potential customers.
• Producing and refining the business and investment plans. Managing and co-ordinating the inputs from technical assistants and specialists.
• Participating in the identification and selection of MSL staff, with focus on the senior managers.
• Participating in the formulation of all personal development plans, and take a pro-active role in ensuring each staff member receives the required HR input.
• Taking the lead role in the production and presentation of the business and investment plans, quarterly and yearly reports.
• Ensuring that standardized and well documented procedures covering all aspects of the business are in place and maintained.
• Maintaining a quality culture within the organization consistent with the standards of a pharmaceutical environment.

To be considered for this position you must have a University Degree in Business Management and/ or Pharmacy or related fields with a minimum of 10 years management experience of which at least 3 years must be in executive management, in addition, a minimum of 3 years experience working in a health sector environment is preferred. You must also have expereince in management and leadership of private sector companies, ability to think strategically, possess high ethical standards and integrity. You must also be proficient in MS Office applications.
