Mastercard Vice President/Business Leader, Franchise Development, DCC Europe

The Vice President/Business Leader, Franchise Development Europe will lead the effort to design and implement a proactive Enhanced Dynamic Currency Conversion (“DCC”) Compliance Program for the Europe Region. This individual will work closely with Customers to ensure that they understand MasterCard’s DCC Standards and work with them to develop plans to achieve compliance. In addition, this individual will work with other key teams such as Customer Delivery, GP&S, Legal, Finance and Customer Account teams and is directly accountable for the ongoing execution and management of the DCC Compliance Program, including strategic and financial planning. The BL Europe Franchise Development will create and document the processes and frameworks necessary to truly optimize the Enhanced DCC Compliance Program for the Europe region and will have direct budget and revenue responsibility.
Major Accountabilities:
  • Lead the design, development and execution of the Enhanced DCC Compliance Program; define and monitor program success factors and key indicators.
  • Direct budget accountability; monitor revenue and expenses, actual versus plan; provide forecasts to Europe region Finance.
  • Conduct frequent meetings with Customers throughout the Europe region to ensure their understanding of MasterCard’s DCC Standards.
  • Using advanced analytical techniques, analyze Customer transaction data to ensure that DCC transactions are properly identified.
  • Utilize market research and competitive analysis to be knowledgeable of industry best practices in DCC to ensure that MasterCard’s DCC standards are current and represent industry best practices. Be the DCC subject matter expert for the Europe region.
  • Assess Customer impacts related to compliance actions and coordinate with country management and account teams.
  • Research/investigate reports of non-compliance that may come from many sources (customers, cardholders, MasterCard staff, etc.).
  • Manage third party vendor “secret shopping” effort, including development of a comprehensive merchant audit strategy.
  • Draft clear and concise customer communications explaining the nature of their noncompliance and work with customers to develop comprehensive project plans to achieve compliance with DCC standards.
  • Prepare and submit proposed changes to the DCC standards to the Global Standards and Procedures Committee as needed.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive training for acquirers on MasterCard rules and DCC best practices.
  • Review ATM screens for compliance with MasterCard Standards, advise customers on changes necessary to achieve compliance.
  • Work closely with the Law Department to understand any legal or regulatory developments in the area of DCC.
  • Act as a consultant for regional account teams on all DCC related issues for their customers.
  • May represent Franchise Development on regional committees.
  • May manage staff.
Education:
BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience required, advanced degree a plus.
Knowledge/Experience:
  • 8 years relevant experience in the bankcard industry required, expertise in developing and managing compliance programs a plus.
  • Superior customer focus, with both internal and external customers; experience in customer facing role and managing customer expectations.
  • Excellent organizational, planning and multi-tasking skills.
  • Working knowledge of authorization and clearing systems.
  • Advanced expertise in analytical problem solving tools and techniques required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills required.
  • Advanced knowledge of the Europe payments business a plus.
