Job Description
To promote Tesco’s reputation amongst external stakeholders, protect the Tesco brand and support business growth. Specifically, I will work with our property colleagues and external consultants to secure planning consent for new stores and extensions while also managing, maintaining and enhancing our local reputation. I will lead on consultation with communities, holding events and meetings locally as required, and will also respond to requests for comments and background information from local journalists. In addition I will win political support for our plans by explaining the benefits to MPs and Councillors.

- 25% of my time meeting local residents, traders, businesses and community groups to explain our planned investment.
- 25% of my time responding to queries and questions about our plans locally, often in the form of letters and emails, as well as responding to journalist’s queries.
- 20% of my time generating positive news stories and coverage for our stores.
- 20% of my time working with colleagues in Property to understand what schemes and plans we have coming forward.
- 10% of my time briefing my line manager and keeping key documents up to date.
- Our stores receive planning consent with support from local councillors, residents and other stakeholders.
- We build relationships with key opinion formers to highlight the positive impact our stores have on communities.
- We achieve positive coverage in the media for our new stores and secure allies for our investment.
- We resolve problems and respond to queries relating to new and planned stores in a timely and efficient manner.
- Our colleagues in Property work closely with us to bring schemes forward and ensure that our plans are communicated to and discussed with local communities.
- My line manager and Director are kept well briefed on key schemes and are able to provide advice and support where it is required.
- I operate as part of a strong team, sharing information freely and supporting others.
