Accounting Specialist, P-3, Copenhagen, Denmark

UNICEF, the world’s leading organization working for the rights of children, seeks a temporary appointment for anAccounting Specialist, P-3 in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Qualification:
- Advanced university degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Financial Management, or other related discipline.
- Qualified accountant (CPA/CIMA/ACCA/ACA/CIMA or equivalent); or 5 years hands-on accounting experience.
- Certificate in project management is an advantage.
- Five years (three of which international) of relevant professional work experience in the areas of accounting, accounting project management, month-end closing processes, financial and/or management reporting, financial risk analysis,  including supervisory experience.
- Proven experience in the area of shared-services and/or business process outsourcing of which at least 2 projects in the domain of shared-services and/or outsourcing linked to finance as a consultant, operational manager, service delivery manager, project manager or process owner.
- Practical experience with the full lifecycle of functional optimization and/or shared-services programs.
- Fluency in English. Knowledge of other UN working languages would be an asset, preferably French.

Skills and knowledge:
• Advanced proficiency in MS Office (including Excel, Word and Power Point), good computer skills, including internet navigation.
• Proven ability to plan, document and set up new processes
• A strong understanding of financial systems including the interaction between different ledgers and workflow optimisation
• Advanced knowledge of general ledger and accounting principles
• Ability to extract from quantitative and qualitative data information, trend analysis
• Demonstrated ability to deliver high quality, accurate work within tight deadlines
• Proven problem solver with the ability to resolve unique situations where no previously established policies and procedures exist
• Advanced working knowledge of month-end, year-end reporting processes
• Advanced working knowledge of accounting principles and standards, preferably IPSAS
