The opportunity

We are looking for an Advisor - Media Relations to assist senior team members with writing and preparing materials as well as liaising with media on straightforward issues. You will work with the team on the media monitoring function and the lodgement of media releases and other material on the Australian Securities Exchange and London Stock Exchange.

The Media and Communications team is designed to protect and enhance the corporate brand and reputation through proactive communication and engagement with key stakeholders, employees, partners and communities. The team also undertake the strategy and implementation of the Group’s media, digital and marketing communications initiatives.

What the role entails

This role is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to be an integral part of the media relations team and provide general support to the team for day-to-day media, events, media tours and other activities as required.  Based in Melbourne and reporting to the Principal Advisor - Media Relations, you will be accountable for:  
  • Researching and preparing materials on issues and events under guidance of senior Media Relations colleagues including media releases, presentations, editorial content development and communications plans.
  • Filing corporate media releases and presentations with the Australian as well as London Stock Exchange and its distribution to media as well as social media sites;
  • Supporting the Global Media Relations team in its implementation of a social media strategy.
What you will need for this role

To succeed in this exciting and challenging role, you will have:
  • A degree or background in Journalism, Media or Marketing;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • An understanding of  a broad range of communication channels, including social media;
  • Advanced Microsoft Office suite applications skills.
