CCCM Support Intern

The Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM) team at the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Geneva is seeking to recruit several new interns from mid-August 2014. Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization providing services to governments and migrants in the field of migration. With 146 member states and offices in more than 100 countries, IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. As an important function of its mandate, IOM is the Cluster Lead Agency for Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM) for natural disaster-induced displacement situations under the 2005 IASC Humanitarian Reform. The IOM CCCM team in Geneva supports colleagues in the field and drives innovation and the development of tools and best practices. The team works closely with other international and UN organisations, including the CCCM Cluster co-lead UNHCR.
As detailed in the attached Terms of Reference, the successful candidate will be expected to support capacity-building efforts within the Global CCCM Cluster; provide assistance in drafting project proposals, policies, and tools; liaise with IOM’s field colleagues, donors and partners; develop best practices and lessons learned; assist in the development of humanitarian strategies and resources, including database maintenance and information management; support the capturing, storing and sharing of humanitarian knowledge; and generate a number of relevant documents for IOM’s field offices and CCCM Cluster stakeholders.
Candidates are expected to hold an advanced degree from an accredited academic institution in a field of study related to migration or other relevant social sciences, or the equivalent combination of humanitarian work experience in a related area.
The internship is set for an initial period of 3 months, with possibility for extension. A monthly subsistence allowance is provided.
