The position

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic consultant with previous experience in evaluation and research to further develop our capacity in the EU market. A positive attitude, an analytical mind, and an eye for detail are required. Responsibilities will include:
  • Delivering evaluation and impact assessment work, developing methodologies, gathering and analysing evidence, and writing high-quality reports for our clients (in particular the EU institutions);
  • Managing (parts of) evaluation and impact assessment projects, co-ordinating the work of Coffey consultants and external experts, and establishing good working relations with clients;
  • Helping to grow Coffey’s business by contributing to the preparation of tenders, and identifying and pursuing opportunities in new and existing markets;
  • Contributing to strengthening Coffey’s capacity to deliver evaluation services in different sectors and using innovative methods and approaches.

What we are looking for

The successful candidate will have at least three years of relevant work experience, and demonstrate the following key skills and attributes:

Essential attributes

  • Excellent writing and analytical skills, which should be backed up by examples;
  • Experience of applied research (ideally evaluation, but other fields – such as policy analysis or social research in general – can also be relevant);
  • A good understanding of the main approaches, methods and tools to evaluate public sector interventions;
  • A strong interest in, as well as knowledge about, the European Commission and other European institutions;
  • Ability to work under pressure, both independently and as part of a team, and meet tight deadlines, when required;
  • A university degree (ideally a Masters);
  • Excellent command of the English language (at or near native level).

Desirable attributes

  • Experience of working in an international setting;
  • Client and project management experience;
  • Expertise in a specific policy area (such as enterprise and industry, employment and social affairs, education and culture, health and consumer affairs, or research and technological development);
  • Fluency in other European languages.

The position being offered is a full-time permanent post based in Coffey’s offices in central London. The role will involve international travel.
