Regional Trade Adviser (RTA) at the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF)

Contract duration: Over the period August 2014 to 31 December 2015
Annual emolument package: €58,000 per annum. In addition to this, a housing allowance, education allowance (if applicable), medical allowance, installation grant and shipment of personal effects are also provided.

Assignment requirements

We are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced person to join as Regional Trade Adviser to work with a detailed Annual Work Plan, which will be prepared in collaboration with the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) Secretariat and National Trade Advisers (NTAs) at national trade ministries in the region. Read more information in the Person Specification >> PDF icon linked to Job description

Qualifications and Experience

  • Postgraduate qualifications in Economics/International Trade or related discipline.
  • A minimum of ten years’ experience in trade policy formulation, analysis and implementation;
  • Experience of trade capacity building in developing countries, with particular reference to the PIF region;
  • Experience of providing advice to senior management and in dealing with Governments and project authorities at a senior level;
  • Supervisory experience of multidisciplinary staff;
  • Experience and knowledge of trade policy issues and challenges in the PIF region.
