Executive Director, Peacebuilding Engineers Program
SUMMARY
This is a new, yet pivotal position that supports one of PeaceTech Lab’s growth areas: educating the next generation of humanitarian engineers. The Peacebuilding Engineers Program will sharpen the skills of talented young technologists and engineers and will give them the opportunity to serve communities in conflict zones around the world who are working to create sustainable peace. We are looking for a dynamic, entrepreneurial thinker/doer who can motivate, teach, mentor peacetech entrepreneurs in the field, while embracing the core values of peacebuilding.
The Executive Director takes the lead role in the Peacebuilding Engineers Program, responsible for organizing and teaching courses, mentoring students, further development and planning of the program, financial management, and public outreach. The position requires a unique mix of skills ranging from teaching and peacebuilding expertise to entrepreneurism and tech savvy.
The program is aimed at two distinct audiences: university partnerships and corporate continuing education. Participants in both components of the program will primarily learn through coursework and instruction. The curriculum will look at the intersection of peacebuilding and technical innovation. Some participants will be able to further grow their skills through co-ops and field placements. The ED will oversee and participate in the experiential learning and related travel, identifying appropriate venues for students to work with global peacetech entrepreneurs.
This position will work in close collaboration with the Lab’s leadership.
