Job Overview:
ZSL is seeking an Impact Measurement Specialist to support the delivery of impact measurement and strategy services within the Impact Strategy and Innovation department. The candidate will have expertise in impact measurement and rolling out impact strategies within a charity, social enterprise or corporate setting. We are particularly seeking candidates with the necessary breadth of experience and depth of expertise to coordinate large, complex and intellectually challenging impact projects. The role will report directly to the Head of Impact Innovation and Investment and will have significant exposure to the Director of Finance, Director General, the directors across all ZSL’s mission areas (Science, Conservation, Education and Living collection initiatives) and all our other operating areas including Fundraising, Marketing and Communications, as well as other internal and external stakeholders. This is a new role that will be offered on a full-time, one year fixed-term contract.
Person Specification:
  • A BA/BSc and or master’s degree in a relevant subject such as Economics, Sustainability, Environmental Sciences and work experience in a relevant field.
  • Proven experience and strong track record in research and application of impact assessment techniques with a corporate, NGO or charity.
  • Significant experience in implementing an environmental, social and economic impact measurement strategy and developing measurement and reporting frameworks.
  • Proven experience in analysing data which enables sound conclusion and recommendations to be drawn.
  • Substantial experience of measuring and valuing social, economic and/or environmental impacts.
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of impact assessment models and current good practice.
  • Demonstrated the application of social and/or environmental valuation techniques.
  • A good working understanding of alternative business models and corporate value creation and strong awareness of the concepts of corporate sustainability and conservation.
  • The ability to project manage large, complex, multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Strong organisational, interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • The gravitas to act as an ambassador for ZSL in relevant forums.
  • Advanced skills in using MS office packages, specifically Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to gather, analyse and evaluate facts and to prepare and present concise both oral and well written reports.
