Senior Country Economist

JOB PURPOSE
Conceptualize, formulate and implement the Country Partnership Strategy (CPS) and country operation business Plan (COBP) in line with country’s development plans and ADB’s medium and long-term strategic framework. Take the lead in annual country programming and country confirmation missions, and periodic country performance assessment exercises. Undertake economic and governance work, thematic, and sector work and stakeholder coordination. Take the lead in implementation of MNRM’s projects in economic policy; private and financial sector development, public finance and governance. Assist the Country Director in high-level policy discussions with Government on macroeconomic, portfolio, and sector policy issues. Work within general policies, principles and goals, working directly with clients.

  • Supervisor: Country Director
  • The following staff positions may be supervised by the incumbent:
    • Administrative Staff
    • National Staff
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Master's Degree, or equivalent, in public policy or other related fields. University degree in public policy or other related fields combined with specialized experience in similar organization/s, may be considered in lieu of a Master’s degree
 RELEVANT EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • At least 10 years' relevant experience within the field at senior levels (e.g. leading projects)
  • International experience working in several countries 
  • Proven application of expertise within a specific area of ADB's operations (economic, sector or thematic), or breadth across multiple areas with in-depth knowledge within one area
  • Able to utilize and share relevant knowledge to benefit the broader ADB community
  • Familiar with multilateral development bank’s policies and procedures
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, multidisciplinary, interpersonal and communication skills
