Director, Integrated Water and Land Management and Ecosystems Program

The International Centre for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA) is committed to finding solutions to the problems of food insecurity and poverty in the in dry areas through agricultural research and sustainable use of natural resources. Our research focuses on crop improvement, water and land management, integrated crop-livestock-rangeland management, and climate change adaptation, and it covers the non-tropical dry areas.

ICARDA seeks a talented and experienced Director to lead its program on Integrated Water and Land Management and Ecosystems Program (IWLMP).
Based in Cairo, and reporting to the Deputy Director General - Research, the Director of the IWLMP will develop and implement the Program’s research agenda, ensuring that its outputs and impact are relevant and fully aligned with the CGIAR Strategy and Results Framework and ICARDA’s research-for- development goals.
The successful candidate will have a PhD in one or more areas relevant to the work of the program i.e. water and/or land management, natural resource management, irrigation, land degradation, ecosystems services and policy research associated with the aforementioned. She or he will bring extensive senior management experience working under pressure in complex international organizations, and will have international recognition for significant contribution to an area of research or development implementation as evidenced by a strong publications record.
