Advocacy Manager

Overall responsibility

About the role

To develop and evaluate an advocacy strategy for Plan in Haiti, and to design and implement the advocacy programs and campaigns associated with that strategy. To ensure the integration of sound advocacy objectives, strategies, tactics and monitoring mechanisms in other country programs. To develop staff and partners including community based organizations in the area of participatory advocacy within a rights-based approach.

The role is based at the Country Office, with frequent field visits

Contract period: One Year

Haiti is an unaccompanied post.

Key area of responsibility

Developing and maintaining an up to date and relevant analysis of the policy environment applicable Plan’s work in Haiti. Supporting the collection and analysis of information and data needed to inform advocacy and campaign strategies and communication activities

Designing, implementing and evaluating national advocacy and campaign plans and strategies in support of the country strategic plan and organization-wide advocacy initiatives.

Ensuring consistent and quality documentation and information dissemination on Plan’s advocacy and campaign activities and results

Supporting and strengthening staff and partners’ capacities to plan, monitor and implement advocacy activities in all stages of the program cycle. Ensuring the efficient and effective involvement of communities, children and civil society in advocacy work.

Promoting learning and sharing, including documentation and dissemination of best practices and lessons on advocacy and campaign activities.

Ensuring, through liaison and communication, the integration and coordination of local, national and regional / international level advocacy and campaign efforts

Identifying and creating opportunities for relevant advocacy at key international events and arranging for and coordinating the resources for Plan to be present / represented at selected events.

Identifying potential funding partners for advocacy programs and projects. Preparing and marketing proposals to potential donors in collaboration with the grants team. Overseeing the fulfillment of donor-funded advocacy projects.

Leading the staff team engaged in advocacy work. Assign work and guide and support staff to implement the work effectively and develop their professional capacities.

About you

Master degree in law, Human Right, Humanitarian Law

At least, five (5) years of relevant professional experience including development and implementation of advocacy or communication strategies.

Experience in the NGO sector preferably working in the area of human rights

Proven knowledge and understanding of local, regional and international development issues affecting children and communities in country

Experience of working with media in the framework of campaigns and media advocacy strategies.

Management of organizational relations with other organizations through networking and alliances.

Representational experience at national and international level.

Strategic linkages and collaboration national, regional and international advocacy movements and players

Ability to use common MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)

Language
English and French language proficiency; Haitian Creole would be an asset
