Child Protection Research Consultant, Collaborative Centre for Operational Research and Evaluation (CCORE)

1. Objectives and Scope of Work

The objective of the consultancy is to expand the capacity of the Centre to deliver high quality technical advisory services to child protection research partners in Zimbabwe. Under the guidance of the Director of the Centre for the consultant will:
1.Act as a day-to-day liaison between research partners
2.Provide technical support where required, to all partners in every phase of identified research projects including enumerator training, field monitoring and quality assurance during data collection and assisting with data analysis and dissemination
3.Coordinate regular and ad hoc meetings between partners
4.Prepare summary reports of progress and report to the main research partners
5.Participate in other duties as assigned by CCORE

2. Required education, training, experience, knowledge and skills

This position is intended for nationals of Zimbabwe.

Education and Training
- Advanced University Degree in Social Sciences, Epidemiology, Monitoring and Evaluation or related field.
- Prior training in gender and sexual violence issues and their application in the Zimbabwean context
- Training in multivariate statistics

Experience and Knowledge
- At least 5 years work experience in the area of survey research project management (child protection or violence related research experience would be an asset)
- Demonstrated experience in survey design and implementation, including sampling, enumeration and data collection
- Ability to communicate effectively with Government, UN and NGO partners on sexual violence and child protection policy and programme standards
- Sound knowledge of national and international standards for psychosocial support to violence survivors
- Proven ability to conceptualize, plan and manage programs as well as transfer knowledge and skills.
- Ability to plan and maintain project schedules and meet required deadlines

Competencies
- Good analytical, communication, managerial, leadership and advocacy skills.
- Fluency in English, including exceptional writing skills.
- Verbal and written fluency in Shona and/or Ndebele
- Proficiency in Microsoft office especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability and willingness to undertake travel within Zimbabwe, as required.
