Empower Project Coordinator

Progressio is looking for a self-motivated, hands-on, team player, with initiative and a can-do attitude, and with a track record of managing projects efficiently.

You will project manage the implementation of Progressio’s Empower project: ensuring that 120 UK volunteers are successfully recruited, inducted and able to make meaningful contributions during 10 week placements in the global South, and on their return to the UK. You will be responsible for maintaining high standards and the achievement of the Empower project objectives. You will also be the focal point of Progressio’s representation with other joint UK partners involved in his project, faith-based and young adults’ networks and other target groups.

You will have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to engage with a wide range of inter-faith constituencies and communities, and work effectively with a geographically dispersed team.

Educated to degree level (or equivalent experience), the post holder will have a proven track record of successful project management implementation; including experience of people management, selecting and inducting volunteers/staff; planning and organising marketing/promotional events; network building and of working proactively with NGOs, young people’s and faith based networks; building effective working relationships with a culturally diverse workforce, spread across different geographical locations, and organising and prioritising a demanding workload.

S/he will also have knowledge of project management techniques and tools, and ability to ensure projects are executed within budget, on time and to high standards; logical thinking with creative problem-solving ability; strong networking skills and the ability to collaborate with other organisations, represent Progressio and undertake public speaking engagements; excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to foster motivation within the project team to meet tight deadlines.

Sound judgement, problem solving skills, the ability to execute tasks in a high-pressure environment, and to react to project adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently; initiative, flexibility and the ability to assume responsibility for work and follow through to completion; excellent language skills in English, including the ability to write reports; a good understanding of international development issues and debates; creativity and the ability to inspire potential volunteers to join the Progressio Empower project; a strong personal commitment to Progressio’s vision, values and goals, and ability to put them in to practice, and to undertake regular UK travel and work occasional evenings and weekends are essential.
