PRI Fellow: Investor engagements and public policy
Location: New York City with some flexibility to work remotely
Duration: 6 months (with the possibility of 6 month extension depending on performance)
Start date: asap
Time commitment: Full time
Remuneration: USD 2,000/month (this is a fixed contract rate without benefits)

Description

The PRI Fellow will assist the Manager of Public Policy and UN Engagements along with the PRI Engagement Clearinghouse team on investor engagement activities. The fellow’s primary role is to support the coordination of long-term collaborative shareholder engagements with UN Global Compact companies. The fellow will be expected to assist with the management of current engagements on issues such as anti-corruption and reporting. The fellow will also work on developing new investor engagements with policymakers and assisting with the PRI Public Policy Network. The Network is designed to bring together policy makers and investors to increase the visibility of the PRI and responsible investment in the eyes of the public sector, support better policy making and encourage governments’ own funds to be aligned with the PRI. The fellow will also assist the Manager with the Sustainable Stock Exchanges work stream.

Responsibilities

Assisting the Manager of Public Policy and UN Engagements and other members of the PRI team
Supporting the coordination of the collaborative engagements with companies signed up to the Global Compact
Coordinating conference calls with the steering committees of the various collaborative engagements
Liaising with the Manager of Public Policy and other team members responsible for supporting investors dialogues with policy makers
Assisting with the coordination of the annual event for the Sustainable Stock Exchanges work stream and other events
Maintaining databases of company responses to investor engagements
Planning follow-up processes with companies
Facilitating online seminars between investors and companies on issues such as anti-corruption
Responding to queries by signatories about Clearinghouse activities
Managing email correspondence, conference calls, meetings and events involving PRI signatories and other stakeholders
Preparing agendas, minutes and progress updates
Arranging conference calls, meetings, events and travel arrangements
Managing intranets and databases

Requirements

Degree in a field related to responsible investment
Ability to learn quickly and to get 'up to speed' within a short time (time will be set aside during induction to read a number of lengthy, but important documents on responsible investment)
Sufficient time to commit to the position for the full six months with the possibility of extending it to a year
Strong interest in responsible investment and environmental, social and governance issues in general
Home broadband / Skype
Ability to relate to and engage with a wide range of investment professionals from different regions
Ability to learn quickly and complete tasks without constant supervision
Attention to detail / Well organised and reliable
Good working knowledge of relevant IT (e.g. Excel, Word, databases will be useful)
Excellent verbal and written communications skills
High level written English (‘Plain English’ style), and ideally one other language relevant to financial markets.
Writing, editing and proofreading skills will be viewed positively.
Willing to conduct conference calls in different time zones (not a typical 9-5 job)
Ability to work well in teams and get on with people
Diplomacy, tact, and the ability to get on with people and fit into a team culture
Right to work in the US
