Concern Worldwide US (Concern) is the affiliate of Concern Worldwide, headquartered in New York. We are looking to recruit a Finance Manager for our 3-year groundbreaking, multi-country Innovations project. The goal of the project is to generate and pilot innovative solutions to critical maternal, newborn, and child health service delivery challenges in developing areas of the world. The Finance Manager will work as part of the Management Team. S/he will report to the Head of Operations and will work closely with the project's Country Managers and Country Finance & Systems Officers. This position is based in New York and may involve overseas travel.

Job Purpose
The Finance Manager will be responsible for the financial management and oversight of the entire initiative. S/he will provide financial advice and guidance to the Innovations Project Director and Management Team, as well as the Country Teams. The Finance Manager will support Concern’s commitment to financial efficiencies and strong value-for-money practices in every aspect of Innovations’ work. S/he will ensure that all Innovations staff receives appropriate financial and budget management training. S/he will also be responsible for conducting spot audits on field teams’ financial operations in order to make certain regulations are being followed properly. S/he will act as the leading liaison between the Innovations central and country offices on all financial matters and will lead the coordination and production of financial and budgetary reports.

RESPONSIBILITIES
General:
• Work with Concern US Finance Director and Country Accountants to ensure that financial standards, policies and procedures are adhered to by the Innovations project and implementing partners
Financial Management & Reporting:
• Ensure that monthly accounts and financial narrative reports are submitted and circulated on a timely basis
• Consolidate monthly management accounts and financial narrative report and circulate to Innovations central team
• Serve as liaison to financial audits, with respect to the Innovations project
• Review insurance documents, lease agreements, contracts and other legally binding documents with third parties
• Provide weekly and monthly financial updates to Project Director
Budgetary Management, Control and Planning:
• Coordinate and collate the annual budget process, which includes budget management training
• In support of country Finance & Systems Officers, monitor fund utilization, and alert the budget managers of any significant inconsistencies and/or short-falls in the financial performance
Training and Capacity Building:
• Provide support, advice and tools for staff as it relates to financial management
• Provide on-the-job training and mentoring support to budget holders and finance staff as needed to ensure maximum standards of efficiency and quality
Partnerships:
• Contribute to the development/adaptation and rollout of capacity assessment tool to identify strengths and capacity building needs of implementing partners
• Support the country teams in ongoing monitoring of partner activities

REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, and/or Business Administration. Professional Accountancy Qualification/CPA would be preferred
• 3-5 years experience working a in a senior role in the finance function of an international organization. Grant/contract management responsibilities desirable
• Proficiency in relevant computer applications (spreadsheet, database, accounting operations software, project management software, presentation software)
• Demonstrated experience in training, coaching and/or mentoring staff in financial management, processes and procedures
• Demonstrated diplomacy in building relationships, working collaboratively within a large project, and within broader external coalitions
• Excellent organizational and planning skills, ability to prioritize a diverse and heavy workload, and meet tight deadlines
• Strong interpersonal and communications (written and verbal English), and excellent analytical skills
• Empathy with Concern’s ethos, values, strategy and longer term objectives
• Willingness to travel, including to challenging locations, often on short notice
DESIRABLE ATTRIBUTES
• Experience in the private sector
• Knowledge of Microsoft Great Plains
• Patience and a sense of humor
