Food Security and Livelihood Officer

Reporting hierarchically to the Field Manager and functionally to the Food Security and Livelihood Coordinator, the Food Security Officer will be in charge of implementing the Food Security and Livelihood activities of the IO programme in Warrap State, financed by ECHO and AECID.

Key Responsibilities

- To ensure the implementation of the activities promoted within the framework of a FS&L programme in Warrap
State;
- To design the methodology for Cash Transfer (namely Cash for Work) in the area, train local staff, mobilize and
sensitize local communities;
- To design the work plan for local farmers and train extension workers;
- Together with the logistic department, organize the purchase and the distribution of inputs for the beneficiaries;
- Together with local actors, government and communities, define election criteria, target and identify, final
beneficiaries;
- Together with the line manager and the technical support of FSL coordinator and HQ in Barcelona, design and
implement the M&E system;
- To manage the local staff (FSL assistants, Extension workers and Work Supervisors);
- To identify needs and trends in the area of his/her competence for further actions and/or emergency responses.

Experience and Skills

- 5 years professional experience in the field with international NGO for food security, livelihood or rural
development programs.
- Previous experience in cash transfer
- Experience in project cycle and team management.
- Knowledge of the sustainable livelihoods approach.
- Diploma in agronomy, rural development, veterinary or similar. Complementary training in humanitarian action
desirable.
- English fluent (spoken and written).
- IT: knowledge at user#s level, good knowledge of Microsoft Officer (Word, Excel). Experience with database,
data analysis software (Access, Sphinx, SPSS or advanced Excel features) and GIS software (ArcView, MapInfo,
QGIS) will be considered as an added value.

Working Conditions

- Contract of employment: Contract of 12 months.
- Salary: According to the Intermón Oxfam's country salary scale + per diem
- Social benefits: Medical, life and accident insurance and children benefit.
- Holidays: 29 working days per year.
- R & R: 5 working days each 10 weeks, flight payed to Nairobi or Entebbe
- Working place: Warrap State-South Sudan
- Non accompanied post.
- Incorporation date: immediate (March 2011).
