Fundraising Manager - UNICEF CHINA

Purpose of the Position

You will develop, supervise and evaluate the private sector fundraising programmes of the China Country Office (CCO) including the analysis and management of all fundraising channels and the sale of Cards and Gifts, ensuring maximum profitability within the context of an approved fundraising strategy and workplan.

Key Expected Results

1. Fundraising
- You will analyze, develop and implement activities to increase private sector fundraising levels to optimum volumes and revenue potential:
- Develop and implement direct marketing campaigns for pledging and one-off donations, including emergency donation campaigns, with a focus on converting one-off donors to pledge
- Expand the pool of co-branded mailing partners
- Explore ways to attract high net worth individual donors
- Develop and finalize work plans for servicing existing corporate partners, and maintain and manage these relationships, including inputs to donor reports.
- Identify priorities and implement strategy for acquiring new multi-year corporate partnerships
- Research and evaluate new and emerging marketing opportunities with an emphasis on developing digital fundraising results.
- Analyze and adjust fundraising performance and provide annual recommendations.
- Investigate mechanisms and formulas for regularizing fundraising activities under Government legal framework.

2. Product Line Marketing
- You will oversee sales of UNICEF Cards & Gifts via the most appropriate business model, maximizing public engagement and income generation, and ensuring adherence to brand guidelines and management of organizational risk:
- Manage the day to day consumer and corporate product sales operations to increase net income and sales efficiency;
- Identify suitable sales licensee partners and lead negotiation of agreements to leverage product sales for increased visibility of UNICEF as well as increased income for programmes;
- Develop different sales channels by effective formulation and implementation of strategies and make changes based on measured results.
- Keep abreast with latest market knowledge and sales techniques. Identify innovative ways to create new markets and test new sales methods to maximize growth through licensing;

3. Develop Annual PFP Budget and Workplan and Monitor Performance
- You will manage and coordinate overall strategy for PFP income generation with emphasis on maximizing stable, un-earmarked fundraising and licensee product sales income streams, in close consultation with the Chief of Communication and Private Sector Partnerships and the Representative, as appropriate; Implement, manage and monitor this strategy;
- Prepare FR and PLM budgets and work-plans in close cooperation with the PFP Regional Support Centre to meet the yearly budget

4. Manage and Supervise the PFP Team
- You will coordinate individual efforts of fundraising and sales team members on assigned workplans;
- Communicate the section’s workplan and monitor compliance, provide support and guidance to ensure objectives are met;
- Conduct performance planning, monitoring and appraisal. As well as identify, recruit and supervise technical resources and consultants as necessary.
- Ensure business office processes are followed and provide back-up support as needed.

5. You will follow up on HQ and RSC requests and initiatives.

Qualifications of Successful Candidate
Advanced University degree in the social sciences or preferably in marketing and/or private sector fundraising.

Eight years relevant work experience. Five years of professional experience in private sector sales and marketing or fundraising, including familiarity with private sector fundraising methodologies: direct mail, pledge giving, corporate submissions, payroll deduction, planned giving (legacies, bequests, insurance), special events, and collections highly desirable.

Fluency in English and another UN language, preferably Chinese (Mandarin).
