Chief of Party, Learning Environment Improvement Program

We are currently seeking a senior-level Chief of Party who will be responsible for the implementation and management of a USAID-funded Learning Environment Improvement Program, providing overall responsibility for strategic and operational leadership to achieve the stated objectives for this large-scale program. The COP will maintain close liaison with USAID in coordination with the Program Implementation Team and the Country Director.

The COP position will be based in Jordan and will be a member of Jordan Country Office Management Team. She/he will lead the program by overseeing all program team staff members, managing relations with partners (both Jordanian and International), coordinating program activities among stakeholders (including the Government of Jordan Ministries) and beneficiaries, and will be accountable for ensuring that the program objectives are met.

Requirements

* Advanced degree in education, development, Ph.D or Ed.D strongly preferred; or related field plus a minimum 10 years’ experience managing overseas/international, multi-partner development programs, especially with USAID, related to community-based education, institutional strengthening and/or civil society
* Experience implementing complex education programs in developing countries (Middle East region preferred) in areas such as education policy; improving educational quality and access; development of community participation in the improvement of education; and M&E of education programs;
* Demonstrated skills in strategic and program planning; previous employment with or extensive knowledge of PVOs/NGOs;
* Familiar with USAID regulations and policies as well as significant experience interacting with USG agencies required (COP/DCOP experience required)
* Proven ability in promoting and collaborating closely with multi-level stakeholders, as well as knowledge or prior work experience in Jordan preferred
* Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to lead and work effectively in team situations
* Excellent oral and written communication skills in English (also in Arabic, highly desirable)
