Manager – Food Facility Project,

Afghanistan - Mazar in Balkh Province

ActionAid Afghanistan invites applications for the position of Manager – Food Facility Project which aims at ensuring food security of the most vulnerable groups and making agriculture a viable livelihood for the small and marginal farmers. This is one of the senior management positions reporting to the Programme Advisor of the Country program. The position will be responsible for the overall implementation of Food Facility Project, meeting contract management requirements of the donor in a professional manner. The program covers 50 remote villages of 5 districts in 2 provinces of northern Afghanistan.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage the implementation and monitoring of the Food Facility Project in accordance with the approved proposal through building capacities of project implementation team and partner organisations.
- Manage daily operation of project management by supervising, familiarising and implementing organizational standard operational procedures, facilitating timely submission of reports requirements.
- Manage human resources and keep staff abreast to human resource policies and organisational development guidelines.
- Ensure over all financial integrity of the Project in line with Actionaid Afghanistan financial standards.
- Ensure proper tracking and control over expenditure related to the Food Facility Project.
- Ensure effective administration system to support the Food Facility Project requirements and managing partnership with a local NGO inline with the project implementation guidelines.
- Ensure good communication and timely submission of quality programme reports within AA and as per donor agreement.
- Carry out Participatory Review and Reflection Process as part of Impact assessment, monitoring and evaluation.
- Contribute to the overall development of the Country Programme as a member of Senior Management.

We seek a person with minimum 3 years senior managerial experience with a post-graduate degree in Social Sciences/Agriculture or related fields. The candidate should have experience working with communities especially in establishing community based safety nets and building community organizations. A proven track record of managing large funded projects will be useful. S/he should possess analytical skills in assessment and planning food security and sustainable livelihood related work. S/he should have excellent interpersonal skills, be able to work in a difficult work environment, deal with multi disciplinary teams and partner organizations, be respectful of women and be aligned to ActionAid values. Sound financial and people management skills, international work experience, sufficient computer knowledge and communication skills both written and spoken English is preferred.

The position is based in the city of Mazar in Balkh Province in northern Afghanistan with national and international travel and is offered for 7 months contract under ActionAid's international terms and conditions.
