Job summary

The post-holder will be responsible for writing and editing corporate content from existing material and creating new content in a lively and engaging way, so that corporate information and good staff stories are told in an accessible and easy to understand manner.

Task description

The post-holder:

1. Create and develop easily understood copy in an engaging way for the Secretariat’s intranet, including commissioning writing from staff, editing, sub-editing and picture taking and research.

2. Undertake assignments related to Intranet content management issues, including content, structure, navigation and development of Secretariat guidelines for publishing on the website and Intranet.

3. Work closely with other members of the Communications and Public Affairs Division to co-ordinate the delivery of online materials.

4. Develop video and multimedia opportunities for online coverage in consultation with CPAD’s line officer for broadcast products.

5. Upload and format content across the Secretariat’s website and Intranet using the Secretariat’s web content management system.

6. Co-ordinate, update and ensure loading of key documents from Divisions and Units.

7. Write good news stories about engagements by staff in either the UK or on mission.

8. Liaise closely with Corporate Services Division and Deputy Director CPAD on Internal Communications processes.

Essential Skills:

Applicants should be able to demonstrate:

  • Strong communication skills, with an ability to talk between multiple Divisions, and solid, experienced news judgment, especially on Commonwealth issues.
  • An excellent command of the English language and proven writing, editing and sub-editing skills;
  • Experience of producing photo galleries; editing audio and video; knowledge of HTML and Photoshop; and general Web production skills;
  • The ability to source and deploy photographic content effectively;
