Livelihoods Officer

Responsibility:
ACROSS is looking for a suitably qualified candidate for the position of Livelihoods Officer. While working to transform lives and communities in South Sudan, the incumbent, under the general supervision of the Settlement Manager shall oversee the daily implementation and management of livelihood activities in Gorom Refugee Settlement in Juba, South Sudan with a leeway to exercise independent judgment over project activities. More specifically, to:

Duties:
1. Supervise the execution of livelihood activities in line with the project work plan and budget.
2. Assess and identify areas of intervention and mobilize beneficiaries including vulnerable groups to benefit from livelihood activities with special emphasis to women’s empowerment.
3. Oversee the design, implementation and evaluation of modern localized agricultural and food security interventions.
4. Identify and initiate opportunities in income generating activities, micro enterprise development, small business start up and vocational training for the target beneficiaries.
5. Plan and conduct trainings and capacity building activities for the target beneficiaries in business development skills and farmers trainings on agricultural methods.
6. Prepare Livelihoods sector proposals, periodic reports, monthly work-plans and organise with stakeholders outreach activities to areas within the operation catchments
7. Maintain excellent relations and communications with ACROSS staff, partners and GOSS
8. May be required to carry out specific administrative operations and other related duties by management

QUALIFICATIONS – ESSENTIAL
Applications shall not be considered from candidates who do not possess ALL the Essential Qualifications
• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or relevant discipline and any other training in management will be an added advantage
• 3 years of progressive responsible programme, of which at least 1 year closely related to implementing agriculture or income generating activities.
• Knowledge on carrying out assessments, data analysis, report and proposal writing.
• Fluent in English (written & spoken) and excellent in MS applications, Power point, Excel and word

• Able to undertake independent research and institute investigative mechanisms
• Ability to work quickly and accurately, follow operational and programme procedures
• Committed Christian with a heart for disadvantaged communities as refugees & IDPs
• Hardworking and able to work under pressure on short deadlines with minimum supervision
• Demonstrate integrity, excellence, stewardship, and collaborative abilities.
• Display trustworthiness, honesty, confidentiality and comfortable working in team settings
