Social Workers

Responsibility:
ACROSS is looking for suitably qualified Sudanese candidates for the positions of Social Workers. While working to transform lives and communities in South Sudan, the incumbents, under the general supervision of the Reintegration Manager, will support in the implementation of community based reintegration activities focussing mainly on IDPs and host communities. More specifically, to:

Duties:
1. Help in mobilising work groups in the community for participation in community development activities and help in data collection and analysis of beneficiary groups.
2. Liaise with the community leaders in identifying suitable locations for development of structures and project activities and Identify community needs in areas of construction, water, sanitation, health and education.
3. Carry out needs assessments for target beneficiaries and assist in formation of groups to benefit from the planned activities.
4. Collect, register and maintain information on activities from records and reports, select and enter data from various sources, prepare periodic and ad-hoc reports.
5. Train the target beneficiaries in group-formation in order to come up with small-scale businesses, formation of groups for running small businesses and how to venture into productive and self sustaining life.
6. Address needs of vulnerable groups as unaccompanied minors, the sickly, the elderly pregnant women and at-risk.
7. Work with IDPs and host communities on possible life skills, and knowledge to retain their cultural norms and traditions that could serve as a medium of transformation of practical and positive heritage.
8. Maintain excellent relations and communications with ACROSS staff, partners and GOSS.
9. May be required to carry out specific administrative operations and other related duties by management
QUALIFICATIONS – ESSENTIAL
Applications shall not be considered from candidates who do not possess ALL the Essential Qualifications
• Basic training in Social Work, Community Development Studies or relevant discipline
• 2 years of programme or community experience, of which at least 1 year closely related to the support of community programme activities.
• Knowledge on carrying out basic assessments, data analysis, report and proposal writing.
• Fluent in English (written & spoken) and good in computer application as word processing.

• Able to undertake independent research and institute investigative mechanisms
• Ability to work quickly and accurately, follow operational and programme procedures
• Committed Christian with a heart for disadvantaged communities as refugees & IDPs
• Hardworking and able to work under pressure on short deadlines with minimum supervision
• Demonstrate integrity, excellence, stewardship, and collaborative abilities.
• Display trustworthiness, honesty, confidentiality and comfortable working in team settings
