Peace Education Officer

Responsibility:
ACROSS is looking for suitably qualified candidate for the position of Peace Education Officer. While working to transform lives and communities in Southern Sudan, the incumbent, under the general supervision of the Reintegration Manager, will undertake and implement peace promotion initiatives and conflict resolution mechanisms among the IDPs and host communities. More specifically, to:

Duties:
1. Oversee and mainstreaming peace building activities as a cross cutting theme in all reintegration activities
2. Develop and conduct outreach programs for various peace building activities that will promote reconciliation
3. Encourage the target beneficiaries to develop social networks to foster harmony and peaceful co-existence
4. Prepare peace building sector proposals, periodic reports, monthly work-plans.
5. Maintain excellent relations and communications with ACROSS staff, partners and GOSS.
6. Prepare proposals, periodic reports, monthly work-plans and organise with stakeholders outreach activities to areas within the operation catchments
7. May be required to carry out specific administrative operations and other related duties by management.

QUALIFICATIONS – ESSENTIAL
Applications shall not be considered from candidates who do not possess ALL the Essential Qualifications
• Degree or Diploma training in Conflict resolution, Community Development or relevant discipline.
• 3 years of programme or community experience, of which at least 1 year closely related to the support of community programme activities.
• Knowledge on carrying out basic assessments, data analysis, report and proposal writing.
• Fluent in English (written & spoken) and good in computer application as word processing.

• Able to undertake independent research and institute investigative mechanisms
• Ability to work quickly and accurately, follow operational and programme procedures
• Committed Christian with a heart for disadvantaged communities as refugees & IDPs
• Hardworking and able to work under pressure on short deadlines with minimum supervision
• Demonstrate integrity, excellence, stewardship, and collaborative abilities.
• Display trustworthiness, honesty, confidentiality and comfortable working in team settings
