Programme Manager Andes

CAFOD, one of the UK's major international aid agencies, is seeking a programme manager to lead our development and humanitarian work in the Andes region – Bolivia, Colombia and Peru. You must be committed to working in partnership with local organisations, experienced in managing staff, confident in a representational role and an excellent communicator; fluent in both English and Spanish.

The key elements of the role are to:
• Manage and develop the regional programme, leading and motivating a small team as well as managing consultants on short term contracts working across the region;
• Work with local partner organisations throughout the region, to support programmes that challenge injustice and lead to improvements in the lives of local communities;
• Ensure that CAFOD is effectively represented to key international and local players, including the Catholic Church and major institutional donors;
• Contribute to strengthening CAFOD’s education, fundraising, campaigning and public policy work on the region.

You will have extensive knowledge and experience of programme management gained in an INGO context. You will have lived and worked for substantial periods with local development organisations and/or have management experience of development programmes in Latin America. Strong communication and inter-personal skills and cross-cultural sensitivity are vital. You will be a proven team manager with good mentoring skills and experience of managing change. Sound judgment, an empowering approach, and proven ability in participatory strategic planning, human resources and financial management are essential as is a strong commitment to CAFOD’s partnership approach to programme development, and to the sensitivities of working alongside the Catholic Church in programmes of social justice and development.
