Project Coordinator –EC WASH Project

Plan has secured funding from the European Union (EU) represented by the European Commission (EC) who is the Contracting Authority to implement a three year WASH project aimed at increasing access to potable water sources among the supported communities in the districts of Luwero, Lira, Tororo and Kamuli as well as implementing sanitation interventions through sanitation marketing and Community led Total Sanitation approaches.

Plan Uganda is an equal opportunity employer currently seeking to recruit competent persons to fill the following vacant positions:


1. Project Coordinator –EC WASH Project (1 position) based in Kampala

The Project Coordinator will report to the Programme Support Manager and will be the team leader for this project; the position is therefore both a technical and a managerial position. The successful candidate will therefore support all project and partner related activities in Kamuli, Luwero, and Tororo districts.


Major Responsibilities /Key Result Areas

1. Develop and implement timely and quality quarterly project implementation plans

2. Ensure that all aspects of the project are in compliance with EC standards

3. Report on project progress as per EC requirements

4. Organize regular performance review meetings with the key project stakeholders and supervise the work of partner organizations

5. Ensure adequate stakeholder consultation and participation at all project stages

6. Supervise and appraise project staff to ensure quality delivery of the project

7. Compile and disseminate reports to the project stakeholders

8. Ensure efficient utilization and timely accountability of funds and other resources allocated to the project including those with implementing partners

9. Ensure that the project documents are well maintained

10. Participate in operational research related to the project


Job requirement

Competencies and Experience



  • A degree in Water Engineering, Sanitation and Health, or any other related field

  • A Masters Degree in any of these fields will be an added advantage

  • At least 5 years experience in Water and Sanitation Policy and strategy dialogue preferably with an International Non- Governmental Organization

  • At least five years of professional experience in managing Water, Hygiene and Sanitation projects

    Experience in implementing EC grants with good knowledge donor requirements

  • Proven skills & experience in report writing, team & budget management and MS office software

  • Familiar with current issues in the field of development and children’s issues in particular in the context of Human Rights based programming

  • Strong awareness of the importance of integration of water supply, sanitation and Hygiene in development

  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and work cooperatively with all other local partners

  • Experience in resource mobilization both at local and international levels
