Software Programmer, UN DRC

The United Nations Joint Human Rights Office (UNJHRO) in DRC (Democratic Republic of Congo) and UNDP have put in place a team of international researchers to improve the management of information about presumed perpetrators of gross human rights violations and violations of international humanitarian law in DRC. Searching hundreds of thousands of documents from across different sections of MONUSCO, the Team retrieves information and constructs profiles about presumed perpetrators. At the heart of the Team's activities is an information system facilitating the searching, structuring, and synthesizing of human rights information.

The project is entering its second phase and seeks to build on the existing technology to further support and enhance the Team's work. Two identified directions are improving the robustness of the search mechanism and providing the Team "automated suggestions" such as links between people and events using data-mining techniques. The technical architecture is .Net, C#, and Microsoft SQL Server.

Interested technical candidates (programmers ideally with 2-5 years of experience) should submit their resume as soon as possible. Resumes will be added to the roster and will be considered if opportunities of vacancy (located in Kinshasa) arise within the team. Please send inquiries to monuc-kin-profilingteammember2@un.org
