SUPERVISORY PROFESSIONAL ASSISTANT (2 POSTS)
Salary package: SU1 OSD Salary Scale

The incumbents will be appointed on a permanent basis.
Key performance areas: * Train, supervise and guide Candidate Attorneys * Co-ordinate legal training at the Justice Centre * Provide individual mentoring and coaching to Professional Assistants and Candidate Attorneys * Assess the quality of the files and work performed by Candidate Attorneys and Professional Assistants on a daily basis * Assist the JCE with Quality Assessments * Monitor the Case Flow management of Professional Assistants, Candidate Attorneys and Judicare at the Courts * Assess the quality of Judicare * Monitor and assess the quality of work performed by Co-operation partners * Render legal representation in civil and criminal matters * Ensure that the law library at the Justice Centre is up-to-date and adequate.

Competencies (skills, knowledge and attributes) required: * A BProc or LLB * Admission as an Attorney or Advocate (the latter must have completed pupillage successfully at an institution recognised by Legal Aid SA) * At least 7 years' post-admission experience or a Partner in a private legal firm * The ability to mentor and supervise * Legal representation and litigation skills * Human Rights orientation * A commitment to professionalism and service excellence * A valid Code 08 driver's licence (compulsory) * Strong negotiation skills * Strong research capabilities * Good administrative skills * Strong training and development skills.
