CONSULTANCY: New Partners Initiative Technical Assistance (NuPITA)

Title: Advisor – M&E
Reports To: HIV Unit Manager – Tearfund UK
Position Location: Teddington, UK

Background: Tearfund is a faith based international relief and development organisation working in at least 40 countries globally. Tearfund is over 40 year old and the head office is based in Teddington, UK. Since 2006, Tearfund committed itself to a 9 year strategy, making HIV one of its key priorities.

Consultancy Summary: The Advisor will report to both the NuPITA Project Director in Nairobi, Kenya and to the HIV Team Leader for Tearfund. The position will be based in the NPI partner head office in Teddington, UK. The Advisor will draw on his/her strong background in the development of M&E systems to support Tearfund’s HIV team to strengthen its M&E processes and approach to enable the effective measurement of program performance of Tearfund’s HIV work in up to 15 countries. Required Qualifications: The qualified candidate will have a Master’s Degree in Social Sciences, Public Health Management or a related field.

Experience
• At least five years of professional experience in establishing and managing monitoring and evaluation system development for civil society organizations; experience with community-based and faith-based organizations is desirable,
• At least three years of professional experience with HIV & AIDS programming with an emphasis on prevention or care,
• Working on health programs funded by the USAID or another institutional donor,
• Project management and administrative procedures, and
• Mentoring and participatory leadership.

• Strong skills in teamwork, networking and facilitation
• Strong written and verbal communication
• Strong skills in strategic thinking and planning.
• Experience in implementing community-based HIV-related programs.
• Strong ability to use IT packages (website management skills)

Additional Requirement: Willingness to work and travel in semi-urban and rural settings in Africa and the region. Travel estimated to be approximately 20% of time.
