PROFESSORIAL FELLOW IN THE SIR ARTHUR LEWIS INSTITUTE OF SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC STUDIES (Social Development Policy)

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for the following post:

PROFESSORIAL FELLOW
SIR ARTHUR LEWIS INSTITUTE OF SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC STUDIES (SALISES)

AREA OF SPECIALISATION: Social Development Policy.

The applicant should have a PhD in any of these areas Social Policy; Social Development; Sociology Social Administration; Development Studies with a Social Policy emphasis. A distinguished publications record with major publications in internationally refereed periodicals. Specialized monographs in Social Development Policy.

The applicant should have an ongoing active research program in social policy with special reference to developing countries. The ideal candidate should have significant teaching and supervisory experience at the postgraduate level (MSc, MPhil, PhD), good computer skills and knowledge of research methods

The successful applicant will be required to have:
• Experience in university management and ability to supervise staff;
• Knowledge of and experience with research grant agencies and international development organizations (eg UNDP, DFID, World Bank, IDB);
• Extensive consultancy experience;
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to interact with senior officials in government, development agencies and research grant agencies;
• Ability to be innovative in teaching, research and supervision.

The successful applicant will be expected to assume duties by 1 August 2011, or as soon as possible thereafter.
