Crisis Group publishes around 80 reports and briefings annually, and some 45-50 full translations (English, French, Spanish, Arabic etc.), as well as numerous translations of executive summaries.

Crisis Group is seeking an intern to work at its Brussels headquarters for six months starting on 19 September 2011, working on Crisis Group's publications and website. Responsibilities will include the formatting and publication (print and online) and dissemination of Crisis Group reports and briefings; updating of our website and contacts database; working with our 25 field and advocacy offices on publications issues; and providing general administrative support.

The internship will suite a broad range of candidates, including those with interests and experience in some combination of the following: international relations, conflict studies, print and online publication.

Though administrative tasks form a large part of the internship, there are opportunities to take part in staff briefings, Crisis Group’s staff development program – and familiarising oneself with other departments in Brussels as well as with Crisis Group staff around the world.

Requirements

Excellent skills in particularly Microsoft Word, and to some extent Excel. Excellent attention to detail and highly organised; Experience in website management or design is desirable (some understanding of HTML); At least an undergraduate degree is required - a degree in international relations, conflict studies, government, or similar is desirable; and Possession of an EU passport, student visa or other means of working in Belgium for six months without work permit sponsorship from Crisis Group. Excellent English required; Native French or other languages, an asset. Please note that our internships are unpaid, although a small stipend for lunch and transport is provided.
