Poverty is an outrage against humanity. It robs people of dignity, freedom and hope, of power over their own lives. Christian Aid has a vision – an end to poverty – and we believe that vision can become a reality. We are striving to bring lasting change to the lives of the poorest communities. . We’ve focused our resources on the issues we believe will make the biggest difference. Now we need you to keep our performance on track.

We are looking for Program Performance Advisor to strengthen the quality and impact of Africa country programmes, by improving our ability to assess, learn from and maximise programme performance and results. This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to contribute to Christian Aid’s impact on poverty, by improving our ability to understand, learn from and improve the performance of our international programme work. We are launching a global programme, funded by the UK government, to drive forward our work on health and resilient livelihoods. Based in London, you will support Christian Aid staff teams and partners involved in this initiative across Africa, with frequent visits to the field.

Working as part of a global team of Performance Advisors, you will help country teams to identify and review their progress and results within the overall programme framework, and to feed lessons into future work and decisions. You will help them to reflect on the big picture, not just the day-to-day, and to really make use of what they learn to strengthen their performance and impact. Above all, you will help us to keep our work grounded in the perspectives of poor & marginalised women & men, and to keep challenging ourselves to ensure value for money in all we do.

You’ll have the intellectual firepower to cut through complex information and find out what really matters, supported by familiarity with evaluation and research methods, and a background in overseas development. But most important will be your ability to light a spark in your colleagues – to foster reflective thinking, and to support them to turn their learning into sharper decisions and better results.

We value the contribution each person makes to the success of our organisation. That’s why you can expect a wide range of rewards and benefits, including a generous holiday allowance, an interest-free season ticket loan, and flexibility that will ensure you enjoy a good work/life balance

As this post is UK based, non-EC nationals will require current and valid permission to work in the UK.
