The British Council creates international opportunities for the people of the UK and other countries and builds trust between them worldwide. Our work on behalf of the arts and creative industries in the UK encourages audiences and participants worldwide to reflect, enjoy, learn and improve their understanding of the UK.

British Council Film is the link between UK films and filmmakers and new international audiences. Together with the British Council’s global network overseas, we work to profile the innovation, diversity, creativity and excellence of British films around the world.

We are now looking for a Film Adviser to join its small team based in Central London. You will have recent experience in the UK film industry perhaps in festival and event production or programme curation; in marketing or distribution; or even as a creative producer yourself. You will be a knowledgeable and enthusiastic supporter of UK films and filmmakers. You will be bursting with innovative project ideas designed to showcase the best of British abroad – and you’ll be looking forward to travelling in order to work with international partners to realise them.

This is an exciting time for British Council Film; it is part of Arts Group which has recently been repositioned as one of the British Council’s major priorities; it has just launched a new web site designed to function as the essential portal to UK film talent; and it has just appointed a new Director of Film who is working to identify new partnerships and possibilities as well reconnect the department to the UK film industry.

We are now looking to build our team by adding an energetic, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable film specialist.
