Programme Management Coordinator CARE International

Application deadline: 9 September 2011

Location: Vauxhall, London - with international travel (up to 20%)
Salary: £33,102 per annum

CARE International is one of the world's leading aid agencies. Last year we reached more than 82 million people. We worked in 87 countries, implementing long-term programmes to fight poverty, responding to humanitarian emergencies, and advocating for policy change to improve the lives of the poorest people

CARE International UK (CIUK) is looking to recruit a Programme Management Coordinator (PMC) to join the Programme Management Team in London. PMCs are responsible for the coordination of CIUK's work in designated regions. A major part of the role involves managing a portfolio of projects largely supported by institutional donors such as DFID and EC and large trusts/foundations. PMCs also coordinate CIUK's Strategic Partnership Agreements with a number of priority countries. PMCs work closely with the Programme Funding Team to pursue new funding opportunities to support CARE's development programmes and to build strong relationships with in-country donor offices. The successful candidate will also be expected to play a key role in CIUK's strategic commitments to advocacy, campaigning, and communications related to specific projects and countries.

You will have a relevant Masters' degree, or equivalent level of expertise and training, and excellent verbal and writing skills. You will have advanced project management skills, including strong competence in financial oversight and budget monitoring. You will be able to demonstrate experience of managing overseas development projects funded by institutional donors. A good understanding of the international development context is essential as well as relevant experience of working in the development or humanitarian field. Ideally, you will also have overseas work experience in development and/or humanitarian work. The ability to undertake periodic overseas travel (sometimes to conflict affected areas) is an essential requirement.
